The project involved designing an intuitive in-app inbox for the Preglife app, with the aim to promote valuable content and exclusive offers to its user base. The challenge was to integrate promotional material in a manner that felt organic and non-disruptive to the user experience. This was part of my role as a Product Design Intern during my internship at Preglife, under the guidance of lead designer.
Problem & Assignment
- The primary issue addressed was the need for a dedicated space within the app where users could receive and interact with content without detracting from the core app experience.
- An additional challenge was to design states such as 'empty inbox' and error notifications that were informative yet empathetic, to enhance rather than detract from user engagement.
Design Approach
- My approach began with a thorough analysis of user interaction patterns within the app.
- Working alongside the lead designer, I employed design thinking methodologies to conceptualize the inbox feature.
- I created wireframes and prototypes that were iteratively refined through user feedback and collaboration with the product team.
Process & Solution
- The final design solution offered a streamlined and visually cohesive inbox, equipped to handle various content types through 'Offer Teasers' and 'Content Teasers'.
- Care was taken to design for different states—ensuring users were guided appropriately during 'Exceptional Cases' such as connection errors.
